WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT KEEPING A MICRO-PIG AS A PET

pair of micro pigsKeeping a micro-pig can be a rewarding, enjoyable and educational experience. Before you make the decision to buy a micro-pig you need to understand the extent of the commitment you are making, and your legal responsibilities. There is a wealth of information available on the internet and you should research the needs of the animal thoroughly. DEFRA’s website contains a booklet, “Caring for your micro-pig”, which you can also download via a link on our website at www.stleonardsfarm.com. As well as the cost of the animal you will also need a suitable space and an “Ark” to house your micro-pig.

You must understand DEFRA rules covering your responsibilities as a livestock keeper. You can download these requirements from DEFRA’s website (“Advice for owners of pet pigs and micro-pigs”) or via the link on our website at www.stleonardsfarm.com.
